Recording: Virtual Cluster Meeting Industry 4.0 – The end of remote maintenance!

A virtual meeting of members of the “Cluster Mechatronics & Automation” took place on 01.12.2020. As part of our membership in the SIT (Strategic Innovation Team) for Production Security, Michael Walser, CTO of sematicon AG, explained in his keynote speech what challenges industrial remote maintenance holds in store.

In addition to an introduction to the technology and protocols used in remote maintenance systems, the focus was also on the vulnerability of the systems. Among other things, a live attack on a SIEMENS SIMATIC S7 controller was shown, as well as possibilities for protection and prevention.

With the advent of digitalisation in production and mechanical engineering, companies are increasingly exposed to cybercrime. Security experts and companies inform about the resulting dangers and necessary countermeasures in a Strategic Innovation Team (SIT).
